Island Grove 1925 Anniversary book states that they were married by Father Aloysius Hoeren, OFM, on January 13, 1879. Their wedding was the third marriage performed at the first Island Grove Catholic Church in Jasper, Illinois, USA.

Celebrated Golden Wedding

Mr and Mrs Victor Lustig of Island grove had the happiness to celebrate their golden wedding Sunday, January 13, 1929 in the presence of their children and families: Joseph and Leo Lustig of Effingham, Joseph Flood of Woodbury, Frank Lustig of Montrose, Mrs Ray Brumleve and son James of Teutopolis. Adolph Koebele and family of Pocahontas, Iowa and George Lustig and family of Chicago were unable to attend.

A most pleasant time was spent and highly appreciated as regards the inner man for toothsome eats and refreshments. The Jubilarians were heartily congratulated and received appropriate and useful presents. At parting all wished their parents God's bountiful blessings for the future.

Mrs. Victor Lustig of the Island Grove vicinity north of Wheeler, is dangerously sick at the farm home. She has had poor health for years and during the last month became more acute. Her recovery is doubtful relatives say, because of her advanced age, being about 70 years

MRS. VICTOR LUSTIG SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS

Mrs. Victor Lustig, nee Mammoser, died at the farm in the Island Grove vicinity, Miles north of Wheeler, Friday after noon at about 2:30 o'clock, following a lingering illness, of a complication of diseases more or less incident to advanced age.

Mrs Lustig, who spent practically all of her useful life in that vicinity, was about 70 years of age at the time of her demise.

The deceased was a kindly woman, a disposition characteristic of of her family. She was loveable, a companion, mother and neighbor, and her passing from life will cast a shadow over the entire community of her late home.

Surviving besides the devoted husband are seven children, three having preceded her in infancy. Surviving are: Jos. M. of Effingham ; Frank of Montrose; George of Chicago; Mrs. Anna Flood of Woodbury; Mrs Lena Brumleve of Teutopolis; Leo of Effingham: Clara Koebele of Pocahontas, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren; one brother, John Mammoser of Island Grove, the last surviving member of the family; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services occurred at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Island Grove, of which she was a faithful member, Monday at 9:30, Rev Geo. Nell officiating. Hundreds of sorrowing relatives and sad friends paid their last respects to one who was held in the highest esteem, and who share their sympathies with the bereaved. Burial was made in the nearby parish Cemetery.

Mrs Lustig Dead

Mrs Victor (Louise) Lustig died at her home near Island Grove, Grove, Jasper, Illinois, USA, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock after a long illness.

Funeral services were held at St Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, Monday at 9:30 o'clock. am, followed by internment in the adjacent Cemetery. The obsequies were largely attended by relatives from near and afar, neighbors and friends. Rev George Nell, pastor, officiated. Father Oscar Wernet of Dieterich was present in the sanctuary.

Six nephews of the deceased acted as pall bearers: William Lustig, Edward Lustig, Mat Meinhart, John Einhorn, Phillip Weishaar and Tony Mammoser.

Deceased is survived by her husband, seven children; Joseph M of Effingham, Frank of Montrose, George of Chicago, Mrs Frank (Anna) Flood of Woodbury, Illinois, USA, Mrs Ray (Lena) Brumleve of Teutopolis, Leo of Effingham and Mrs Adolph (Clara) Koebele, Pocahontas, Iowa. Three died in infancy. Further more, she leaves nineteen grandchildren and one brother, John Mammoser of Island Grove.

Mrs Lustig was born at Matteson, Illinois on December 18, 1860 being the daughter of Joseph Mammoser and Barbara April who came from Alsace, to Matteson, Illinois where also others from Alsace and Lorraine had found a new home. The family later moved to Island Grove, being among the pioneer settlers of that community.

On January 13, 1879, Miss Mammoser was married to Victor Lustig. Attained age 69 years, 10 months and 26 days. May her soul rest in peace.
